The driving forces behind Central Sweden Brussels
The principals of the Central Sweden Brussels office are the Dalarna Regional Development Council, Gävleborg Regional Development Council and Örebro Regional Development Council.
Centrally located in Sweden
The Central Sweden area extends from the plains of southern Örebro County to the mountains of Dalarna in the north, and from deep inland forests to the Baltic Sea coast of Gästrikland and Hälsingland. This part of Sweden is home to world-beating forest and steel industries and also boasts a natural and cultural heritage that spawned a centuries-old tourism industry.
The Bergslagen mining district, the cradle of Swedish industry and a hotbed of ideas and technology for the future, also runs through Central Sweden. So it´s hardly surprising that this part of Sweden has long attracted immigrants from all over Europe, including Finnish farmers who slashed and burned forests to clear them for cultivation, Walloon ironworkers, and French artists who came to decorate the interiors of wealthy citizens´ homes with landscape and figurative paintings.
